The credit union was originally chartered in 1963, under the name
of Cone Federal Credit Union. Our core sponsor company was Cone
Mills Corporation. In 1989, we changed our name to Premier
Federal Credit Union, so that we could expand our membership base
and offer our services to other companies. Since our organization,
Premier Federal Credit Union has grown to over $100 million in assets
with a membership of over 26,000.  We are proud to serve 200+
companies in North and South Carolina.

In recent years, Premier FCU was chosen, out of all participating
credit unions in our asset category, to receive the First Place 1999
Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award, Second Place Dora
Maxwell Social Responsibility Award in 2000, 2002 & 2004 and an
Honorable Mention Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award in 2001,
2003, 2005 & 2006! This award is presented each year by the North
Carolina Credit Union League to recognize credit unions that, through
community involvement, staff volunteer work, fundraising efforts, etc.,
show outstanding, continued commitment to the philosophy of
“people helping people”.
